Meet Darryl Hathway, the owner of Darryl Hathway (DH) Painting and Decorating, a Brisbane-based painting business with over 30 years of experience. Darryl was doing all the right things to grow his business – delivering high quality work, offering outstanding customer service, and had engaged a marketing agency to help him further grow his business.
But with only 3 to 4 leads generated each week that were not necessarily converting into guaranteed work, Darryl quickly realised that something was amiss. His business wasn’t expanding at the rate he wanted and he was frustrated. His agency was pitching him against one-man painters in suburbs that he couldn’t compete in or weren’t suitable for his business. The first step NTWRK took was to review the landscape. This involved analysing the market, researching potential clients, assessing the customer journey, the digital user experience, and accessing and understanding all account information including historical data, statistics and analytics available.
Another big part of NTWRK’s ‘reviewing the landscape’ process was investigating competitors – what their marketing programs looked like and how that translated into market share and channel ownership. NTWRK looked at the direction their businesses were moving in and identified the gaps – as well as how to fill them. Fast forward 18 months and the business experienced dramatic improvements in their results.
NTWRK focused on improving target audiences, resulting in dramatic increases in both Consideration and Acquisition. This meant customers were more likely to use DH services and enabled DH to capitalise on every opportunity they encountered through the analysis of data. That continues now through their partnership with NTWRK.
Once they understood where Darryl’s business had been, NTWRK worked to understand where he wanted it to go by listening to his concerns and discussed his business plan. This led to a phased approach that aligned to the Darryl Hathway Painting and Decorating business plan and strategic goals. Significant milestones and key performance indicators were outlined to track and measure progress.
