What the site measures.
Optional analytics and session replay are off until you accept measurement. You can keep them off and still read the site and use its forms. We also count page views separately, as described below. Change your choice at any time with Manage cookies.
Site preferences and security.
Your browser stores your measurement choice and your selected light or dark theme. The site also uses Cloudflare security checks to protect forms from automated submissions.
Your measurement choice is kept in your browser’s local storage (ntwrk-consent), which has no expiry date, and in a first-party cookie called zaraz-consent, which lasts one year. Cloudflare’s tag manager keeps a copy in local storage (_zaraz_google_consent_update). Before you choose, zaraz-consent and that copy are already set, both with measurement off. Cloudflare also sets a cookie called cf_zaraz_client, which lasts one year. It was empty when we checked.
Optional measurement.
If you accept, Google Analytics 4 helps us understand which pages are visited. PostHog records visits and interactions, including session replay, so we can find parts of the site that are difficult to use.
Google Analytics 4 runs through Cloudflare’s tag manager, Zaraz. Once you accept, it stores identifiers in two first-party cookies: cfz_google-analytics_v4, which lasts one year, and cfzs_google-analytics_v4, which ends with your browser session.
Once you accept, PostHog stores an anonymous visitor identifier in your browser’s storage and in a first-party cookie that lasts one year.
If you accept, the site also measures how quickly each page loads. It loads a page-speed library, web-vitals, from unpkg.com, a public code host. The timings are sent to our own database with the page address, whether you are on a mobile or desktop device and your connection type. They do not identify you.
We use optional measurement to improve this site. Accepting it does not turn on advertising personalisation.

Page-view counts.
Separately from optional analytics, we count the page visited, the day and the source of the visit. These counts help us understand readership. They do not identify a visitor in our page-view dataset.
Forms, subscriptions and the removability test.
Sending a form or requesting a report gives us information you’ve chosen to provide. That is separate from your choice about optional analytics. Our privacy notice explains what we collect and how we use it.
Change your choice.
If you change your choice to Keep it off, Google Analytics, PostHog and page-speed timing stop from then on. Page-view counts carry on, as described above. Cookies already set stay in your browser until they expire or you clear them.
